Erris Head Loop Walk

← All things to do

About

The Erris Head Loop is the headline walk of the Mullet, a roughly 5km waymarked loop out to the northernmost tip of the peninsula and back. The trail follows an old earth bank around the headland, with a couple of stiles and a footbridge along the way, and it is boggy in parts, so proper boots matter. At the top you reach a railed viewing point looking out at Illandavuck island, Pigeon Rock and a run of sea arches, with the open North Atlantic beyond. It is an official Wild Atlantic Way discovery point and one of the finest clifftop walks in the country. The car park sits above a sheltered cove with the curious name of the Danish Cellar.
